Many of you may know, my grandfather lost th battle to cancer Saturday morning around 1040ish. (Death cert says 1056) Thanks to those that send their condolences. A little upset that th "besties" didn't come to support me when some said they will. Even my brother's army whatnot came down to chat awhile. Moving on.
Let me introduce you to my grandfather, at least what I know of him. Born June 1939, he was th 5th out of 8 siblings. Don't really know much about that part of his life so lets just fast forward to after my mum was born, that's when I heard more stories.
He worked as a post delivery men to make a living and feed his family. It was a different Singapore back then. When Chinese was a minority. My mum believes that her father was bullied by th other races. He never told them anything but my mother knew. You see, my grandfather is a very quiet man and he doesn't make a fuss about anything. He fathered a Daughter (hi mummy) and 4 Sons, and from that he has 3 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.
When I was younger, when we went over to his place, he will dote on my brother and I like no ones business. He gave in to all my princess demands like what I wanted to eat, what I wanted to do. All my gameboys, game cartridges, nitendo DSs are all gifts from him. And thanks to him, my childhood was very well documented (I basically have a truckloads' worth of baby pictures.)
Now that my grandaddy is gone, I hope he will be looking down on us and watching out for danger ahead. Love you to th moon and back. Until we meet again. xo
In Loving Memory,
Sum Weng Kong, 26 June 1939 - 8 February 2014.
Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather.
