Alcoholic Alert! Beer @ 12 on a Sunday afternoon. But they were had cheap! $6/bottle!
Over th weekend, instead of going for service (I'm a bad Christian, sighpie) Junji,Edwin, Natalie, Melissa and myself volunteered at th 2XU race. Met th gang slightly later that 1030 and had some slack time and dinner together at Popeyes.
Found my coz in th crowd at th f1 pit and he told me that our Aunt and Uncle were going to be running th 21km. Unfortunately, I didnt manage to catch them in th crowd and believe me i tried my best. Anyway, our leader made me a mini leader and thus I was cycling up and down making sure there were no problems in our sector. So after th dreadful long night of not clubbing, not drinking and no napping (th rest all napped!!)
So when we finally got our bags, our allowance and our goodies, we walked over to god knows where for th aircon, toilet and food. Changed and walked pass Medz and decided to eat here, since we were all 25bucks richer. Slept in th train all th way to serangoon and luckily i woke up JUST as we reached th station else we would have gone all th way to th end. Cabbed home from serangoon because th sun was unforgiving. Took a 6hour nap and woke up at 9ish. Good Lord.
One takeaway I had from this run is, whoever you are, however you are, its not suppose to be stopping you. There were a few interesting characters i saw in this run. Th first, was this guy running around with a interesting outfit with a tire tied to him, one of th in-charge told me that he is a regular. And he runs to raise awareness and funds for cancer kids(i think) and apparently, he response to "Ah Siao".
Next, was this guy I saw from afar, running while holding on to a piece of cloth that th guy beside him was too holding onto. When he came closer, I saw that he was actually visually challenged. I infer that th guy next to him was a volunteer or a friend that agreed to run th race with him.
Th third I saw was this lil boy, 8 years old maximum, he was freaking doing th 10km(5km, I cant rmb which) run. Like th one and only run I participated in was th standard chartered 5km run and I almost died. Ran half and walked th rest. I selfdelcare that I'm allergic to exercising.
Last but certainly not least, was this guy way at th end of th race, it was around 9 in th morning that we spotted him. He was a blade runner, or from what I saw, Blade walker. He was doing th 10km run and was th last guy left. Mel and I really salute him. Even with a metal leg, he is doing th 10km run and what was I doing? Complaining about a 5km run? I should dig a hole and bury myself. I cheered him on as he passed me twice.
